Just curious. I found that in some parts it's easier and some parts it's harder. I think they really cleaned up some of that late 90's level design to make the game flow a lot better, especially in "On a Rail". There were a few parts though where the enemy placement just seemed super brutal. I just finished my play though and overall it was absolutely amazing. And that's from someone who's played a ton of the original. If someone doesn't get a job out of this, I'd be surprised. Can't wait to see what they do with Xen. Whenever I replayed the game I'd often stop at the On a Rail part for some reason, always felt so long and tedious. I'm up to this part now though and completely loving it. The alterations of things they've made have been great. And yeah visually, this looks better than the HL2 games if you ask me. I can't believe how detailed everything is. The military is just as hard as the original... so I'd say for the most part the difficulty feels the same, but it's tougher than HL2 I'd say.

Playing so little!! About 8 hours into Darksiders 2, and I'm staying away from buying anything else until I finish that, Walking Dead, and Mark of the Ninja.

I'm skipping Torchlight2 until my Diablo related RSI fades. Borderlands2 however, holy s**t that game is fun.

Re: What are you currently playing?
I double dipped with Borderlands 2, lol... got it for the PC (greenmangaming deal, $43) and then the 360. Maybe it's because I played the first on the 360, but I definitely prefer it on consoles.

The PC version of Borderlands kinda sucked. Felt so much like a console port. Dunno if it was improved over time though, I really couldn't get into it.

Re: What are you currently playing?
From what I played of it this one seemed pretty good. It's insanely well optimized too. Some articles and my friends seem to be saying the same thing. But yeah, I still think it feels best on the 360.

From what I've seen, the textures on the 360 look like s**t. If you have a nice computer, I'd roll with the PC. You can always just plug an Xbox controller in.

So sweet that I've sunk about 100 hours into it over the last couple years. It wasn't without its issues though. The sequel takes care of most of those issues.

Still playing League of Legends, having now 2 accounts, one on West and one on North&East. I think I'm gonna reach lvl 21 this week-end.
And my lens for the Wii is almost dead, it cannot read double disc like Xenoblade, MOM, SSBB anymore. Fmylife.

Re: What are you currently playing?
I got a gun in borderlands that makes my controller flip it s**t out... It just starts to rumble when you look down the sights, it gets intense if you do it repeatedly, and it doesn't stop until you fire from the hip. It makes it hard to play, as you've just got this thing rumbling in your hand. And forget about getting comfortable and leaning back.
Also, I love some of the characters in this game.

Is that Moxxi's "special" gun? Anyone playing Guild Wars 2? I'm enjoying it.

Re: What are you currently playing?
Guild Wars 2 right here!
And now that it's been brought up, I can gush a bit.
I find that, mechanically, GW2 is the most appealing MMO I've played. Much like Torchlight II, everyone gets their own XP and their own loot. There's a sense of community about it. You're not afraid to see people because there's no random PvP and even if there were, levels automatically scale to the area a character is in.
The world events in lieu of a proper quest system are awesome, but can get a little repetitive. As long as you do some damage, you get participation points, XP and loot. Everybody in an area works together to achieve a goal, be it taking down a giant monster, defending an area, etc.
If you get KO'd, anyone can run by and revive you. And there's incentive to as well, because you get XP just for reviving someone. Sure, it's only like 30 XP, but still....
That brings me to my next point. The game does an amazing job of making you feel like, no matter what you're doing or what your play style is, you get a payoff. Wanna focus purely on your crafting disciplines? Go cut down those fuckin' trees. You know what you get? 10-20 XP for each piece of wood yielded (3-5 usually, plus socketable items occasionally). Wanna mine that ore to make your weapons? Have 20-30 XP for each lump of ore (plus socketable items). Wanna harvest those plants to be a Chef? Fuckin' do that, too and have 40 XP while you're at it! Then, when you're finally done gathering materials, go the relevant crafting station and start makin' s**t. You know what you get besides a constantly improving skill? MORE f**king XP! Plus, you can sell all the extra s**t!
For combat, the skills you have change with the type of weapon you have equipped. You don't manage 10 taskbars filled with different skills. Instead, you have 4-6 primary weapon skills, plus 3-4 class skills. That's it. It's handled really well, I think. Your race also has determining factors in the type of armor you can wear later on.
There's a lot more I could say about it, but I have to mention a little badness: There is less story in this game than WoW. Without a typical quest system, the only real "quests" you get are the ones specifically related to your character, and those are few and far between because there are usually pretty steep level curves. The game definitely encourages exploration and doing your own thing, which is both a blessing and curse. That's really the worst thing I have to say about it. I'm playing an Asura Engineer and what story there is is generally cute and pretty entertaining. Also, the main NPC I deal with is voiced by Felicia Day. <3
So, yeah. I really fuckin' love GW2. I'm on Crystal Desert, BTDubs.
Also, Torchlight 2! <3

Re: What are you currently playing?
You guys, the Mecromancer in Borderlands 2 is really something. I like the way I never die because this character is so overpowered it just so happens that you can find yourself doing over 300% extra damage, filling your shields to 100% every time you kill something hitting targets with rounds that miss, and consistently getting health back between combat.
Oh, you also get a giant death machine that slices things up with some pretty BA claws. My bullets may have a .0002% chance to go where I want them to, but if you give me a shotgun and plenty of ammo I can clean a room full of rats in no time at all. I think Martha Stewart would agree, "It's a good thing."
That is all. Back to the lands of border, where I will get my murder on with the trap of death.
~<3
Also, I like a girl who can remove her own arm for science.

Mark of the Ninja made its way to PC sooner than I thought, and I am so glad that it did. Been in a stealth mood so I reinstalled Thief 1 and 2 with the modernization patches... then this. Looks like I have a full plate of assassination to enjoy.

Re: What are you currently playing?
So, I want to stream me and my friends playing Super Metroid in a race/score attack style play through. I don't know how to score it though. Like each %to your item is worth five points and you get minus one point for every five minutes. I guess my most recent play through would be 425 points with 91% on the items and 2:30 minutes on the time.
Any better ideas for scoring? You guys are a creative lot.

Re: What are you currently playing?
How about everyone who plays Super Metroid is a winner. Everyone who doesn't loses.
I do like the scheme you described though, but it seems like you are too lenient on time? It depends on whether you want to reward speed more than completion, or vice-versa. I think the best 100% is like 55 minutes or something, so the theoretical maximum would be 500pts - 11 = 489. In my opinion, your score of 425 is too close to the theoretical ideal, when you're over twice as slow and 9% from perfect completion.
Keep it at 5 points per % but you lose a point for every minute. So you'd have to be finishing at least 1% of completion every 5 minutes to stay above 0. If you can't do 100% in 500 minutes you don't deserve a non-zero score. In your case, your 91%/2:30 would be worth 455-150 = 305, and the world record would be 500-55 = 445.
My first play through back in '94 was probably 80% in 8 hours, or 400-480, so I wouldn't even be in the positive.

BEAT DARKSIDERS II BLAM!! Great game. Shame it's more based on loot and upgrades than new items, but there are some sweet ones in there.
Off to... Mark of the Ninja maybe??????????????????

Well, whenever I get in a little gaming nowadays I've restarted the original XCOM. Still hard and arcane, still addictive and deliciously atmospheric. And, I didn't play it back in '94, cause I was 3. And that avengers facebook game. Pretty fun, and not just for a facebook game.
