Nice.

Oh, the halloween event is now running. Started on the 18th and it runs to Nov. 1st.

You can Trick or Treat by running around to doors in a level appropriate zone for your character and clicking on said doors. Tricks are magical villains that pop out to attack you. Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires, pumpkin monsters, Witches, Evil Ghosts; all of them can appear to attack you. All of them give badges if you kill enough.

Treats come in the form of various inspirations of all 3 sizes and also special salvage drops. You have to collect 1 of each type (there are 4) and when you do, you can turn them in to a special contact who enables a 5th costume slot for you.

There are also giant monsters roaming the streets. The Great Pumpkin, Eochai spawns constantly. Defeat him and win a badge. A minute later he reappears somewhere else in the zone. He is also accompanied by the Unseelie Court, a dark group of evil spirits that also give a badge when enough are defeated.

finally, there is a chance each time the Eochai is defeated that the rare Jack in Irons will spawn in his stead. Jack also gives a badge.

Oh, and there's a very small chance of getting a temp power from the trick or treating. You can be given a one time use Rock to throw.

The third year of veteran rewards were just posted. Click the links here or just keep reading.

Quote:
27 Months: Dedicated

* Dedicated badge
* Costume Piece: Anime-style tech armor
* Costume Change Token given to all characters on account

A full costume set of anime-inspired technological armor pieces is available at this level. Heroes and villains can get a whole new unique look to their characters with this costume set, and we are even including a Costume Change token so that they can take advantage of the new set without impacting their Influence or Infamy. Like other costume rewards, this set is available for all characters on the account, present and future, so if the costume inspires players, they can make a level 1 character with the new costume pieces right out of the gate.

It's pretty neat, a litttle close to some of the current costume parts for my liking, but still a nice set of armor.
Image

Quote:
30 Months: Committed

* Committed badge
* Costume Piece: Signature Group Chest Emblem (Freedom Phalanx, Vindicators, Vanguard, Arachnos, PPD, Cage Consortium, CoT, Council)
* Costume Change Token given to all characters on account
* Base Items: Hero: Scirocco's Sword, Ghost Widow's Cape, Black Scorpion's Armor, Captain Mako's Tooth, Lord Recluse's Helm, Hamidon Goo. Villain: Positron's Helmet, Synapse’s Goggles, Numina's Cape, Sister Psyche's Belt, Citadel's Brain, Manticore's Bow, Statesman's Faceplate.

This reward level incorporates some back story elements from the City of Heroes and City of Villains games and ties them in to character costumes and supergroup bases. First included are new chest emblems from a selection of the in-game groups for characters to wear proudly. These include the Freedom Phalanx, the Vindicators, Vanguard, Arachnos, the Paragon Police Department, the Cage Consortium, Circle of Thorns, and the Council. Of course a Costume Change token comes with this reward as well.

Also included are exclusive trophies for supergroup bases. Scirocco’s sword, Ghost Widow’s cape, Black Scorpion’s armor piece, Captain Mako’s teeth, Lord Recluse’s helmet, and even goo from the Hamidon. Villainous trophies include Positron’s helmet, Synapse’s goggles, Numina’a cape, Sister Psyche’s belt, Citadel’s brain, Manticore’s bow, and Statesman’s faceplate. These trophies come complete with their own display case and look great in any base.

This is pretty cool. The base items are nice, lets some RPing in and helps track progress about which AVs or Heroes we might have fought.

The Chest Emblems are really neat. People have been asking for a way to be a part of those teams for a while now. There are a few ways in the game to do so, but this is now definitely the most visible and simplest.

Quote:
33 Months: Unswerving

* Unswerving badge
* Power: CHOICE: Permanent Nemesis Staff or Permanent Blackwand
* Respec given to all characters on account

Here players get a choice. Player characters can select one of the staves that Nemesis gives his troops, or the awesome Blackwand, as a prestige power. These began as temporary powers players could earn for completing certain missions. Now they can become permanent parts of player characters, like the Ghost Slaying Axe and the Sands of Mu from the 12 month reward.

The Nemesis staff is a steam-powered staff that shoots bolts of energy that deal damage, knock back foes, and may stun them. Damage: Moderate. Recharge: Long. The Blackwand is a black metal wand that feels cold in the hand, and glows with dark arcane energies. When used by those skilled in magic (i.e. of Magic origin), it increases the potency of its attacks. Damage: Moderate. Recharge: Long.

this is f**king badass. The Nem staff is the coolest looking temp power in the game. The giant gear at the end of the staff actually rotates and the smaller gear inside of it does as well. There's also a crackling energy effect on it. The staff is a ranged knockback power too which is lots of fun.
Image

The Blackwand was added in Issue 5 with magical zone of Croatoa. You receive it as a temp power in there with a few uses. This is a pretty sweet weapon for a magic origin character.

36 Months: Addicted

* Addicted badge
* Base Item: Arachnos Flyer (Villains), Longbow Chaser (Heroes)
* Power (Choice): Demon Pet, Clockwork Pet, Red Cap Pet, Rikti Monkey Pet, Robot Pet

Supergroup bases will never look the same once players park one of these babies in them! A choice of an Arachnos Flyer or a Longbow Chaser means that a player base will have a unique look to it that only comes with the three year Veteran Reward.

In addition, players get another choice for their characters. This time, they get to choose between five cuddly non-combat pets for each of their characters! That’s right, these little critters are useless in combat, but they look oh-so-cute, and can be the perfect accessory for each of their character concepts. The five pets to select from are a small Demon, a renegade Clockwork, a docile Red Cap, a domesticated Rikti Monkey, and a refurbished Robot.

the base items look pretty damn cool.

ImageImage

But the pets are awesome.

That's some pretty sweet looking stuff there, particularly the Flyer/Chaser and the pets.

i realize they can't give away any gamebreaking items as the vet rewards, but these new items just get a big MEH from me.

they need to design some costume pieces that have auras or something. i'd take that over a base items that needs a HUGE room.

yeah, i don't give much of a f**k about the base stuff. And the anime armor could be more... anime. I want some stuff that looks as cool as the PPD armor. THAT'S some anime armor.

and who do i have to blow to get a robotic torso and pants.

Norf, did you see the spoilers on the Invention system?

here's the thread on the UK forums

Essentially, in addition to novel combinations of enhancements that do not exist in the game, like Dmg/End, Heal/Recharge/End, Dmg/immob. There's even a acc/dmg/end/rchrg enhancement listed. And a brand new mechanic.

Craftable weapon procs.

Pretty f**king neat, say I.

some of the ones in there:

chance for damage (energy, negative, smashing, psionic, lethal)
chance for a DoT (lethal, toxic, psionic)
chance for status effect (hold, immob, stun, knockdown, sleep, slows)
chance for spectral wounds (temporary damage dot that heals back after ~20s)
chance for end drain

and then some neat beneficial effects

chance for self heal
chance for build up (woot, +80%dmg, +15%tohit)
chance for heal other

Travel powers can be slotted with speed/end enhancements or even a stealth effect.

Healing powers can take +heal/+end recovery

Resistance powers can take Psi or even Mez resistance enhancements.

Here's a youtube video someone made of it.

quadruple post ftw!

Anyway, issue 8 is now live and has been since Tuesday. All the veteran rewards that i posted screenshots of are live. There are some more new gameplay mechanics, hero side, to bring the two games up to the same level.

I feel like a tool for 5posting, but this is legitimately pretty cool.

due to a hole in the map, people have gotten access to the University where the Invention system of Issue 9 will be taught to the players.

here's the thread where a guy walks through the intro missions to familiarize you with the system

there's some really cool stuff. Basically, you can craft enhancements, costume items, temporary powers and inspirations with salvage. The enhancements that you craft and slot never lose their strength after that. But, to entice us to replace them, their base value changes based on the level you are when you slot them. A level 30 enhancementmight give a 30% buff, but the level 50 version will be a 40% buff to that enhancement.

And like the earlier post I have in here says, there are rare and uncommon recipes for some enhancements that drop from mobs and can only be used a specific number of times before you have to find another copy of it.

There's even a bit of info on the Auction House.

here's the info.

Quote:
Inventions General
Inventions Enhancements are a brand new type of Enhancement that YOU make. They’re like traditional Enhancements but with more...kick. They can be slotted at three levels higher than yours, but, if my calculations are correct, and they always are, they can’t be combined with other Enhancements.

They don’t expire as you level! And wait, there’s more! Their effectiveness is constant and based on the level you are when you make it.

There are even new ‘sets’ of Invention Enhancements. Did you know that? Individual Enhancements make up these sets and they work like normal Invention Enhancements, but as you gather and slot your single power within this ‘set’, if grants you bonuses. At any level!

Inventions General 2
Invention Enhancements are a new ‘type’ of Enhancement that provides exceptional bonuses to players. They can be slotted a 3+ to a person’s level; however, they cannot be combined with other Enhancements.

Invention Enhancements do not expire as you increase in level.

The bonuses of any given Invention Enhancement is constant and based on the quality of the Enhancement at the time it was built. Schedule A Enhancements scale from 10% at level 10 to 40% at level 50. Schedule B Enhancements scale from 7% at level 10 to 25% at level 50.

There are new ‘sets’ of Invention Enhancements. Each ‘set’ is made of single power Enhancements that, working together, give excellent bonuses as long as the single power enhancements are part of the same ‘set’.

Salvage
There are two types of Salvage: Invention and Base. Invention Salvage is used to create a variety of items; whereas, Base Salvage is used exclusively to build Base Items. However, at a loss, you can convert Invention Salvage to Base, or Base to Invention Salvage.

There are different Rarities of Salvage, which basically means how often or rarely you find certain types of Salvage. The three Rarities are: Common, Uncommon, and Rare.

Now, how would you know how to tell the different, you ask? Its easy. The color of the name and the information listed in the Information Bar will tell you exactly how common (or rare) your Salvage is.

You have an entire inventory devoted to Salvage, which stacks, by the way. The amount of Salvage that you can carry is limited at first, but as you increase in Security Level, that will grow somewhat.

Also, some of the fine folks here in Paragon City may have some tasks or missions for you. In exchange, they can give you move space.

Recipes
There are two variations of Recipes: one variation is ‘built in’ to the Workbenches here on campus and the other variation is a ‘personal recipe’. Like your Enhancements and Salvage inventory, you now have a Recipe Inventory, which you can find by clicking on your Recipes tab under the Enhancements window.

Recipes have different Rarities as shown by the color of their name.

In brief: Common (at Workbenches, but not dropped) are White, Uncommon are Yellow, Rare are Orange, and Extremely Rare are Purple.

Each recipe tells you what it requires to ‘build’ it such as Salvage Components as well as Influence for the use of the Workbench.

If you’re making an Enhancements, you can ‘mouse over’ the Enhancement Icon and you’ll see a tooltip that gives you move information about that Enhancements. Now for other types of Items, additional text is displayed to show you exactly what the Recipe will build.

Recipe Inventory size starts out at a certain size, but grows larger as you increase in Security Level. This is the same philosophy you learned about in your Salvage class. And yes, like Salvage, successfully completing certain missions or tasks will reward you with additional Recipe Inventory slots.

Workbenches
Workbenches are used to build Items from Recipes. They can be found in universities, or can be purchased for Supergroup bases.

Click on the Workbench to interact with it. Select a Recipe and click the ‘Create’ button. If you do not have the required components, the button will be unavailable (greyed out).

Common Recipes are found on the Workbench; they do not need to be ‘found’. Higher Rarities, however, must be found and are single use. The number of uses for a particular Recipe is displayed in the Inventory or Workbench window.

Results
Recipes can build the following:

-Enhancements
-Costume Parts
-Temporary Powers
-Badges
-Inspirations
-Base Items
-other ‘types’ of Salvage

You MUST have enough room in your Inventory in order to fit the results of your Recipe. If you do not, the Recipe will display this and now allow you to create it.

Once a Recipe has been successfully used, the results will be placed in your Inventory. The exception is Costume Parts, which will need to be ‘picked up’ at the Tailor’s. You may only create a costume part for the character you are currently playing. Lastly, you may not have another character within your account pick up this costume piece.

Currrently, the workbenches only allow you to convert Invention Salvage into Tier 2 Base Salvage, not Base Salvage into Invention Salvage.

Wentworth's
Wentworth’s has just established consignment stores in greater Paragon City for all your buying and selling needs.

Do you need a specific piece of Salvage?

Do you have Recipes or Enhancements you don’t need?

Looking for that rare item for your special someone?

We can help!

Come visit us today in Atlas Park, Kings Row, Steel Canyon, or Talos Island. We’re always open!

and just for shits & giggles, here's a picture of a pair of wings that you'll be able to make yourself from salvage in I9.

The valentine's event is live right now, allowing heroes and villains to team up and have some coop fun.

also, the lead developer, Positron, gave an interview at mmorpg.com about the upcoming Issue 9: Breakthrough.

you can read it here

or i can post some cool stuff here.

Quote:
With this salvage, players can use the recipes to assemble an all new class of Power Enhancements or costume pieces (depending on the recipe), which they can then use. Unused recipes and salvage can be sold at the new Consignment Houses (for Heroes) or the new Black Market (for Villains).

Quote:
Next we have a revamp to the Hamidon encounter. For those not familiar with the Hamidon, it currently is one of the big “raid” encounters in the game, requiring a large group of heroes to overcome. We’ve changed the way Hamidon plays to improve the experience and also made an attempt to make the encounter better for smaller groups of characters. In addition, the Villains get their very own “Hamidon zone” in the Abyss.

Quote:
Finally we have Statesman’s Task Force, which allows Heroes to take the fight to Arachnos. This is on par with the Lord Recluse Strike Force and has the same reward pool to choose from at the end.

Quote:
What you won’t find is a hard core crafting system that you must min-max numbers in for weeks to make the best “product”. What you will find is a fun new way to gain Enhancements, and Enhancements you actually desire. In addition, you can collect various “sets” of Enhancements which slot into specific powers. When you collect multiple pieces of the same set and slot them into the same power, you start to unlock new bonuses for your character that they didn’t have previously. This includes stuff like overall Damage bonuses or Defense bonuses versus specific attacks. Number crunchers will love the challenge of stacking these set bonuses, whereas more casual players will simply be happier that their character gets more powerful with each set they collect.

Quote:
First off you need access to an Invention Worktable. These are inside the Universities in Paragon City and Rogue Isles. For players with a Supergroup base, they can add an Invention Worktable to their base. Built into the table are “Invention Origin” recipes of the 28 standard Enhancements. These “IO’s” act just like normal Enhancements except they do not expire, and their bonus stays static no matter what level you are. Lower level IO’s are strengthened around that of Training Enhancements, mid level IO’s are about the power of Dual Origin Enhancements, and IO’s level 25 and above have about the same punch as current Single Origin Enhancements. Of course the power of the Enhancement is better with level, so high level invented Enhancements are slightly more powerful than the equivalent SO.

Quote:
Well, all the recipes you find while playing the game are multi-purpose Enhancements, or something equally as cool.

Here’s an example:

Sting of the Manticore (a set of 6) - Slots into any Sniper power

* Accuracy/Damage
* Damage/Endurance Reduction
* Accuracy/Interrupt/Range
* Damage/Interrupt/Recharge
* Damage/Endurance/Recharge
* Toxic DoT Proc

If you have 2 Enhancements in the set slotted: Bonus to your Regeneration rate
If you have 3 Enhancements in the set slotted: The above plus Energy/Negative Energy resistance
If you have 4 Enhancements in the set slotted: The above plus Overall Damage Boost
If you have 5 Enhancements in the set slotted: The above plus Overall Recharge Rate Boost
If you have all 6 Enhancements in the set slotted: The above plus Toxic damage resistance

I’ll talk about the Enhancements. The last one in the list is a Proc, meaning a procedure that has a chance of happening. Every time you fire your sniper power with the Toxic DoT Proc Enhancement slotted in it, there is a chance your target gets hit with a Toxic Damage over Time effect as well as the normal damage and effect of your Sniper attack.

Quote:
Smaller raids, better tactics, and less potential for griefing. Since the Hamidon encounter will be much more do-able with small groups now, we’ve had to go ahead and put the “once per 24 hours” restriction on the Hamidon Enhancement you can get from it, so it doesn’t become farmed 10 times in a day. Once players start seeing the power of the Set based inventions, they may start picking the “Rare Recipe” option upon defeating Hamidon instead!

Issue 10: Invasion announced.

I was thinking of reactivating my account for a bit. I need a better PC first, but I kinda miss CoH.

haha, the new rikti models are all sleek and snazzy. then they show them with atlas and the globe in the background. the globe looks like complete ass. i've seen spheres in WoW that look less polygonal.

i don't know if i can bring myself to resub anymore. the statesman TF just destroyed all hope of that game having any decent boss encounters.

slap on all of your debuffs and hope they're enough so that your DPS can beat their HP regen rate.

heck, if they ripped off every single boss encounter in WoW, taskforces would be 1000x more fun.

the one boss encounter in Deadmines is better than 95% of the boss fights in CoH.

which is sad.

they apparently have no f**king clue on how to code decent AI. all they ever do is buff the s**t out of the mob or give it exotic debuffs that f**king trash you. it's kinda annoying.

if Marvel Universe online does a better job of this, I'll probably jump ship.

Issue 10 went live today. There's lots of fun stuff.

Quote:
Issue 10: INVASION!

The skies over Paragon City are filled with dark, grey thunderheads. It is the same in the Rogue Isles, Europe, and across the globe. Small ships dart through the heavy weather … and there are so very many of them.

The Rikti have returned.

Quote:
HEADLINES:

Rikti World Invasion: The Rikti have been fought off before. But now, prepare for a desperate battle to save Earth from the new Rikti Invasion Force! Aggressive Rikti forces can attack Paragon City and Rogue Isle areas at any time and with little warning!

Rikti War Zone: Heroes and villains are asked to put aside their differences and co-operate to assist Vanguard, the all volunteer force funded by the United Nations Security Council, to stem the flood of Rikti and their attempts to salvage their downed Mother Ship. Earn Vanguard Merits to obtain new costume items and other cool stuff!

Rikti Co-op Task Force: Lady Grey, leader of Vanguard, has a series of missions for a proven team of superpowered individuals, security clearance 45 to 50, designed to take the fight to heart of the Rikti Invasion!

Quote:
INVASION!

“The Rikti Return! The Vanguard needs YOU! All super powered beings are encouraged to join the effort! This isn’t about your history, but about OUR future. Join now.”

* The Rikti have somehow found a way to bridge the dimensional gap between their world and ours once again and are staging raids on Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
* When Zones within the cities are under attack, a world-wide alert will be issued by Vanguard. This alert will show up in your Chat window, warning you in which zone attack is imminent.
* While the invasion is occurring, players do not receive debt while outdoors in an invaded zone.
* Those in that zone that do not wish to be at risk of Rikti attack are asked to take shelter immediately. They can do so by leaving the zone, or moving inside buildings or under cover (overpasses, parking garages, etc.).
* Rikti bombs appear to be unstable and not 100% reliable. Some do not explode on impact and only embed themselves in the ground. These bombs have been noted to detonate after a time, so take caution when you see these. They can be disarmed or delayed by inflicting damage upon them.

Quote:
Revamped Zone: Rikti Crash Site is now Rikti War Zone

The region previously known as the Crash Site has erupted into a War Zone! All non-combatants are advised to stay well clear of the area!

This zone is now co-operative, Heroes and Villains can both enter into the zone and team together while here. Heroes and Villains cannot fight against each other in this area. They will both arrive into the zone in the Vanguard Base that has been established there.

Entry points can be found in Vanguard Bases in the following zones:

* Paragon City:
o Atlas Park
o Founders Falls
o Peregrine Island
* Rogue Isles:
o Cap au Diable
o St. Martial
o Grandville

The SWAT entrance from Crey’s Folly is sealed.

* The zone is now scaled for levels 35 to 50.
* While in the Rikti War Zone, debt obtained will be 50% of normal.
* When you enter the zone, Levantera, one of the directors of Vanguard, will be auto-issued to you as a contact. Complete her missions to get a feel for the area, as well as be inducted as an honorary member of Vanguard and be able to obtain merits.
* Borea has repeatable missions for you in the Rikti War Zone.
* Other characters that have missions available are Gaussian, Dark Watcher, and Serpent Drummer. They can all be found in the Vanguard Base
* By joining Vanguard you will earn Vanguard Merits for defeating Rikti as well as completing missions for Vanguard. These Merits can be exchanged for Costume Pieces (of the Vanguard Armor), as well as some other cool stuff. The device for purchasing these items are special crafting tables located within the Vanguard base. Vanguard Merits can not be used at other crafting tables.
* You can view Vanguard Merits earned from the Salvage window under the Special Tab.

Quote:
Rikti Co-op Task Force:

The UNSC backs Vanguard for billions. With the second Rikti invasion bearing down upon us, the United Nations Security Council has essentially given Vanguard a blank check to cover the costs of fighting the Rikti, “We don’t have time to haggle over budgets,” says a senior level official in the UNSC. “Vanguard has always been about defeating the Rikti, no matter what. We fully support Lady Grey and her team.”

* Lady Grey gives out a Strike/Task Force for 8 super powered individuals with security clearance from 45 to 50. The mission attempts to stop the Rikti before they can get a foothold in our dimension. Be wary, the Rikti are single-minded in the pursuit of their objectives!

i've heard this is very fun and has a lot of new mission maps and artwork.

Quote:
Take the fight to the crashed Rikti ship!

* The Rikti have erected energy pylons throughout the area surrounding their crashed ship in the Rikti War Zone. Vanguard engineers have discovered a way to detect Rikti Pylons. To view waypoints to these pylons, check the ‘Special’ option in your map display window.
* Destroying all pylons before the Rikti can replace them, will lower the shield on the Rikti Mother Ship in the zone.
* Heroes and Villains are asked to plant explosives inside the ventilation systems of the ship to cripple the Mother Ship repair effort the Rikti have in progress.
* Once enough bombs are planted, the Master at Arms will arrive to clear out non-Rikti interlopers!
* Characters that participate with this will be rewarded with Vanguard Merits.

this is pretty awesome. I got to do this. there are 17 pylons around the zone. destroy them all, and it takes about 4 teams working together, and you get access to the Rikti ship. You can plant bombs in their cooling ducts to sabotage the ship. Waves of Rikti spawn and all drop merit tokens.

The merit tokens, which you have a small chance of getting from regular Rikti, can buy costume parts, temp powers, extra storage space and usable pets.

Quote:
Rikti Villain Group Revamp

* The Rikti Villain group has undergone an art and powers revamp.
* The new art vastly upgrades the look of the Rikti and now allows us to use more animations with the Rikti soldiers.
* One major change is the Rikti swords now have a ranged energy weapon in them, allowing them to use both melee and ranged attacks without switching weapons.

they look much better.

Neat.

I kind of miss CoX sometimes. The combat was great, I just wish it was stretched around a more rewarding game.

it can be found online, HERE

or downloaded, from here

You guys should check it out, it's pretty awesome.

Issue 11 was announced finally and the main features were profiled.

Quote:
Ouroboros System

Through the mysterious Menders of Ouroboros, players gain the ability to “Flashback”, that is to travel through time and relive major events from the history of Paragon City™ and the Rogue Isles™. Heroes who travel back in time will embark on missions such as preventing the Circle of Thorns from unleashing a devastating demon on a defenseless world, a story originally presented in the City of Heroes comic book. Villains who journey through time will get the chance to assist Lord Recluse™ in his initial campaign to conquer the Rogue Isles, and much more.

Heroes and Villains also use the Ouroboros System to return to story arcs that they may have missed and replay hundreds of missions from earlier in the game. Players will even get to set mission parameters for these missions to earn special badges. Heroes and Villains will be auto-exemplared to the appropriate level for each story arc to ensure the challenge level remains constant.

Quote:
Weapon Customization

Sometimes an assault rifle just isn’t the right tool for the job, or character, especially when he or she should be using a sniper rifle instead. Players can now change their weapons in the same way that they change their costume parts! From within the costume creator and tailor screen players select the new “Weapons” region. A number of new options are now available for appropriate power sets. Current power sets that benefit from this upgrade include Assault Rifle, Mercenaries/Assault Rifle, Bow, Broadsword, Claws, Villain Claws, Dual Blades (see below), Katana, Ninja Blade, Mace, Robotics/Pulse Rifle, and Thugs/Dual Pistols.

Two New Power Sets

The City of… universe expands with two new amazing power sets: Dual Blades and Willpower.

Dual Blades

With a flashing blade in each hand, the Stalker made quick work of the Coralax hybrids guarding the shipwreck.
Now Heroes and Villains can wield paired weapons to devastating effect! Use the new Weapon Customization interface to choose from several types of weapons. Dual Blades also uses a brutal new Combo system, where the order of your strikes can create new advantages for you to take down your foes! Dual Blades is available to Brutes, Scrappers, Stalkers and Tankers!

Willpower

Available to Tankers, Scrappers, Brutes and Stalkers, the Willpower set offers a strong mix of resistance, defense and regeneration powers. This is the perfect power set for those characters who have the mental will and determination – the willpower – to ignore pain and press on through insurmountable odds!

Quote:
New Inventions

Issue 11 brings with it new invention sets including “Very Rare” Purple sets, as well as brand new invention sets for Taunt, Buff and Debuff powers, among others.

Hey, sounds pretty cool. I like the sound of being able to go back and do arcs I missed. Maybe I'll resubscribe when this gets released.

Well, I probably won't. Too lazy.

also confirmed from developer posts:

unlockable weapon models based on enemy factions. Rikti swords, guns, Nemesis stuff, a Tommy Gun,

examples of weapons: sledgehammers, shovels, boards, bats, machine guns, various swords, different pistols, some claw type weapons, etc

Also, Customized weapons for mastermind pets.

the weapon counts as a costume piece. and since you can have 5 costumes, you can put a custom weapon on each one.

NCSoft has bought full ownership of the CoH IP, and has formed a new studio to continue it's development.

they better make some major improvements if they wanna keep it alive.

right now, i see them as trying to keep their current players instead of trying to get new ones.

wtf. i just got an email from ncsoft announcing their acquisition.

as a thank you to players, they're offering some rewards.
Quote:
1. Full Access to City of Heroes and City of Villains®
All players with City of Heroes retail* accounts will now have access to City of Villains, and all City of Villains retail* accounts will now have access to City of Heroes. Players that didn't previously have access to "the other side" will find that they do now. Just log in to check it out!

2. Debt Wipe
After the launch of Issue 11: A Stitch in Time this Fall, we are removing Debt from all characters and giving you a fresh start. Actual date will be announced shortly. Have fun in the mean time.

3. 20,000 Prestige
Also after the launch of Issue 11, all Supergroups will receive an additional 20,000 Prestige per Supergroup member, meaning SGs could acquire up to 3 million Prestige based upon their Supergroup membership roster! Actual date will be announced shortly.

1. wtf. give everyone a free month or something. there's still money to be had with CoH/V being separate.
2. debt wipe? experience isn't hard to get in this game. not only that, debt is halved in instances. a debt wipe is lame.
3. this is pretty neat. i remember when they did this a while back. my SG got a souped up base afterwards.

yeah, there's quite a bit of discussion on all this on the coh boards. my favorite posts are the morons pissed off that they're being gipped because they paid money for what some people are getting for free. i do feel sorry for people who *just* bought the other half of the game.

here's some other info.

NCSoft didn't just hire the team leads. All of the Cryptic employees that were working on CoH were hired as part of the NorCal studio to work on CoH.

There are also about 20 job postings for new positions with the CoH team, including World Designers, Mission Designers, Powers Designers, Visual FX people, etc.

they are also going to continue to provide 3 free Issues per year, as well as some new stuff as they hire all those new people.

This page spans a year.

Have they consolidated servers yet? It was getting pretty empty when I played, which was just a few months after CoV launch.
