Epic battle begin!

I love arcade racers, even some of the "kart" games. Which is your favorite?

Maybe he meant "futuristic", as well?
I'll say F-Zero, but I think Wipeout may have had the most suitable soundtracks.

I will agree that Wipeout had the more suitable soundtrack for the futuristic setting, but I really enjoyed the gameplay of Extreme-G. Ther was also that other racing title that came out with Extreme-G for N64 callerd Aero-something... The Crystal Method did the tracks so I ended up playing it.

The original Extreme-G is still a favorite. Too bad the series never went anywhere.

NES had Excitebike, Road Rash wasn't on a Nintendo system, it was mostly a Sega product.

Here is Excitebike, which I still have for my NES, btwftw.

Maybe you're referring to Mach Rider?

As for the topic at hand, F-Zero X is my favorite racing game, though I like GX almost as well. Also, I had a pretty good time with R: Racing Evolution a few years back.

Wipeout came with my old sony vaio 200mhz pentium computer when I bought it years ago. First time I ever saw a 3d accelerated game. It was on the ATI Mach64. 2 whole megs of video ram, but ya know, it looked amazing to me.

So, yeah, Wipeout. Music kicked ass.

I actually loved that game. I played through it in one sitting after renting it for the N64. I have a copy for dreamcast that I still bust out from time to time.

For me
1. Rock and Roll Racing - I sucked at it but it was soooo much fun!
2. Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer - I owned at this game....well as much as I could I was only like 10 or something when I had it.
3. F-Zero GX - I absolutely adore the soundtrack to this game! Also for some reason I prefer this game over...
4. F-Zero X - I boned this game with a short pole/stick for ages ESPECIALLY Death Race, that was so much fun.
5. Xtreme G - Fricking awesome but in my honest opinion I don't think it could have ever gotten close to being as good as the other games up there ^

I think it had a ton of potential. The series just went downhill like so many others. The original, for me, is like a blue print for futuristic arcade racers of the sort. Track design is okay, gameplay including weapons is great. Music is meh.

Of the three in the topic title, I liked each for their own reasons:
Extreem G: I like the idea of futureistic Motorcycle racing, just wish later instalments were better.
Wipeout: Had the coolest weapons by far. Come on, the Quake disruptor (or somehting like that). That, and the Playstaton versions could be used as Audio CDs.
F-Zero: The ultamate in fast racing. Absolutly loved the sonic speed that Sonic Team brought to GX. Hell, I still play the origonal, on my SNES.

Overall, F-Zero is the best by far. :)
