Listening to it on Bandcamp. Definitely solid so far.

Did this album start out as the homage to Dawn of the Dead and then that didn't end up happening? What I'm really asking is, what happened with that?

This is DEFINITELY the DOTD album. A few songs were written out of the context of the movie (like Thrifty, which is the one old track). But each song has at least a reference, story, or tone associated with the flick. I didn't try to bend too far out of my comfort zone and write something Goblin-like, so none of the songs would fit on the soundtrack or anything. Some are pretty f**ked up evil though. It's actually a pretty dark record, and more like my older influences than the riffy metal stuff - but that's in here too. It's all over the damn place. All that art is straight out of the first 15 mins of the movie actually. That little video is a ripoff of the intro credits.

Ah, most excellent. If I believed in fate, this album coinciding with z0m's [probably very brief] return is the closest thing I could consider it being.

I just got my bank to stop f**king with my account so I will pre-order that large soup meal edition! So happy about this album, the two songs so far have that exciting new music feel (like new car smell but better) and still feel like Stemage stuff, while also kicking my brain in the face (like a kick in the pants but better). You have your own style, I'm sure you've been told. In a word, whatIjustsaid.

I also need to watch Dawn of the Dead... for the first time. Is it on netfloss?

The original DOTD is on Netflix but not streaming. Best way to watch it is on VHS. That's the version that inspired me - on a VCR with terrible tracking.

I pre-ordered one of the limited editions (thanks for your assistance with that, Grant). I look forward to hearing the whole thing. Maybe I'll watch DOTD before then too.

I will have to see if I can find a... oh wow I just looked and my tv has a built in VCR. Sweet! Is Night of the Living Dead important to watch first, or is it as good? According to Netflix it's a prequel and it's on instant.

I'm not as big a fan of NOTLD as most people, but it is a classic and has some great moments. You don't have to watch that first if you don't have interest, but I'd see it. Dawn came out 10 years after the original, and zombies are the only thing that connect them.

Also, you don't have to watch it on VHS, but the grain adds to the camp IMO. The remaster is great of course, and there are some great shots that only widescreen captures properly.

I'm late to the party but I just got the digital DL of Zero Over Zero. Awesome album! There is some mean riffage going on there.
