Holy crap, Stem! You must be in my head. I was just thinking about watching that movie tonight, because I don't think the wife had seen it yet and I just recently dug up the ol' VHS tape collection.

Man, I sure wish Layne would have stuck around to make more music.

While we're on the subject, I always had a thing for Rotten Apple: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJFG-W_fdqM (teehee, layne flubbs)

Yea it's a neat video. If the new songs I heard live are any indication, then they will indeed have a badass album.

Here's the rap battle from Teen Witch.

Found this one on Youtube awhile back. Tons of Eruption covers online, but this one's easily my favourite.

If the link doesn't work, just look up Cesar Huesca. He rocks.

Another Andy McKee cover of mine. This one is called Art of Motion.

It's an okay version, I just wish I had the discipline to make myself play things perfectly before posting

The quality of your sheer playing ability is a tad obscene, you know that?

Actually, to be honest no I don't. I see other artists around me and they manage to hone their musical prowess to near perfection. Mine is riddled with imperfections and it drives me mental...but not to the point of obsessive perfectionism. It's a shame really cause I'd like to get to that point some day.

*edit* However, I thank you for your comment, Grand :)

Thanks guys. Creativity....is somewhat lacking in my genes. I have yet to accomplish an original composition in my ummm...hmmm...16 years of playing music. Egads, that's sad.

I'll try!

The key to writing interesting new music is to totally rip off good stuff that no one else has heard. I do it subconsciously all the time, and it's always embarrassing when I realize it.

There's a scene in "Straight No Chaser," the Thelonious Monk biopic, where he describes a time where he kept dreaming about this amazing song, and finally he managed to get out of bed to go play it at the piano where he could write it down as some new masterpiece. When he got to the piano and played it, he realized he'd been dreaming about a really common jazz standard. That part was hilarious and vindicating for me.

Writing your own music is way easier than learning covers - no one can tell you you're doing it wrong.

Nothing like a good solo (fretless) bassist to perk you up some days.

I like the left-handedness and the fact that the low string is on zee bottom. Very Ashley MacIsaac of him.

Two acoustic guitar giants get together and collaborate for some cover action.
