Post Re: The Movie Review Thread
I'm not really anti-remake. Stories being told and retold was kinda how stories rolled for eons, right?

Evil dead has already been remade and remade into a much better film called Evil Dead 2. I got no love for Diablo's writing, as most everyone who's ever been near me knows, but I like the lady playing Ash and i'll see it.

Carrie is pretty far from a classic in my eyes and isn't it Hitgirl playing Carrie? I'll see that, too.

Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time and I wouldn't LOBBY for it to be remade but it would in no way diminish the amazing, unlikely perfection of the original.

Having said all of that I thought both of your posts were funny, Stem and Chunk :)

Post Re: The Movie Review Thread
So, I saw Looper. I'm not sure, but I think it's a pretty big movie. Not like Inception was, but I think people will be talking about it for a while. Or it could just fade under the radar and become one of those hidden gems. But it was crazy, the story, and the cinematography was cool, the effects and choreography, and a refreshingly simple message. Minor spoiler:The first time a guy got zapped in front of Joe and instantly got blown away I was like "whaaaaaat!" Essentially, I'm so glad I didn't see the trailer for this one. It both spoils some little moments, and doesn't convey the feel of the movie nearly well enough. It's Bruce Willis, JGL, Sci-Fi, getting rave reviews, just go see it already!! (And Jeff Daniels)

Les Misérables International Trailer

Open Christmas Day in the US. I'll admit it now, I will bawl like a f**king child when I go to see it.

So, I saw Brave. I feel like I was promised a different movie.

Post Re: The Movie Review Thread
Just got back from seeing Les Misérables.

What I loved about it: Anne Hathaway's utterly raw rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream."
What I also loved about it: Hugh Jackman's excellent portrayal (and singing talent) of Jean Valjean.
What I liked a lot about it: Everything else.
What I was really happy to see: A cameo by Colm Wilkinson.
What I hated about it: Russell Crowe. He killed Javert with a bone-shattering crack (if you know what I mean).

8/10, would consider seeing again.

Just saw Iron Man 3. I'm probably going to lose sleep over that scene in the cable news van.

Do you think the ending would have been better if it was just ironman in his barely fixed up suit beating up the bad guy?

I saw Iron Man 3 yesterday. The bait-and-switch was brilliant, and I never saw it coming.

Star Trek! Well, I can honestly say I was somewhere between sobbing and having full-on fangirl episodes. That being said, there's a glimmer of hope that JJ Abrams may be able to do something about Star Wars... and, I'm talking more than 3d lens flare.

Tradition is I always see Star Trek with my parents - every movie since I was old enough (that we cared about). We're hitting that tonight. :)

I'm way late on this, but Evil Dead was really really good.

Something like that. Oh man I thought it was amazing. I was totally right about John Harrison being an alias for Khan too.
