Such a mind-fuck. There was so much tension in a scene where basically nothing happened. VG knew that everyone was waiting for the hammer to drop, so he just teased every possibility in that scene. It was masterful.

Although I do agree that Hank finding out about Walt by picking up a book during a s**t is kind of convenient, from a plot-writing perspective.

But boy, I can't wait for that drama to play out.

it would have been nice to see Hank do some actual, honest-to-goodness detective work to figure it out, instead of just having it handed to him, but whatevs. I just hope Skylar ends up dead in some crossfire or something.

Doctor Who:

Angels take Manhattan was a little disappointing. The f**king dude has literally rebooted the f**king Universe, but couldn't go back and rescue the Ponds? Time distortion bubble you say? Well, just travel to a day before the distortion bubble and wait, or a day after and pick them up. Yes, I know, Timey Wimey, fixed point and all that, but it just felt like hand-waving. I realize it's almost impossible to write-off a character in a series where you can go anywhere in time and space, but still...

That doesn't mean I didn't have a little glisten in my eyes during a couple of scenes, though.

I still haven't watched it. I don't think I'm emotionally prepared. That's not even a joke. Sadly.

RE: The Angels Take Manhattan: Mercy. It tore the heart out of me. I hear your complaints, Doom, and they're totally reasonable but as you pointed out I think you just have to go with it sometimes when it comes to character exits. I got teary (in a manly way). I seriously can't remember the last time I cried when it wasn't connected to Doctor Who. It's been years, I'm sure. I liked Oswin and I have faith that I'll enjoy her stories but damn I'ma miss me some Amy and Rory. So...yeah. It gutted me but every time the Doctor tears me up I think about how amazed and grateful i am to have stories delivered to me that draw me in like that. I'm invested in these guys in ways that are probably not healthy, and I'm psyched about it. Anyway, bring on Oswin! Fun Fact: I recently learned that "Oswin" means "Friend of God" so...yeah.

Also:

Amy: You think you'll just come back to life? Rory: When don't I?

I don't know if it's made it across to you guys yet, but i'm thoroughly enjoying a new Oz series called "Rake". It's some of the best Oz TV i've seen in a long time, and it takes a lot for me to say that (Oz TV generally sucks the big one....badly). It's smart, naughty, and just downright hilarious. Highly recommended.

I understand a US version is planned as well.

Just watched The Angels Take Manhattan. I, too, got a little misty-eyed. Sure, in any other episode they would have found a way to go back and save them but like Proph said, you just have to go with it sometimes.

Also, it was nice to have a character leave without some big crazy intergalactic war scenario, you know?

Absolutely. It made the melancholy of the situation that much greater.

I would say I ragequit last season, but the truth is it just wasn't worth the effort to illegally download it. I've been hearing nothing but good things about this season though, so we'll see if my threshold for MEH is reached.

I haven't seen last year's season yet, though it's been sitting on my hard drive all year (I use showRSS to auto-download the shows I watch). Heard middling things about it, but maybe I'll try and catch up now?

Last season was meh, worse than season 3 IMO. This season has potential, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Still going to be hard to top that masterpiece of television that was season 4.

I'm just here to say that ... if you aren't watching Breaking Bad, then you are missing out on what will be a cultural touchstone for years and years to come. I feel honored to watch it unfold in real time, but fuckin' a', having to wait 167 hours between episodes is tooooooorture.

Seriously guys. This show. Binge seasons 1-5a then we can all suffer this unending wait together!

:drunk: <-- look hes hi on meath lol

Breaking Bad is like the longer Pulp Fiction you always wanted back in 1994. Beautiful dialog, amazing characters, fantastic situations, all presented in a comically over-the-top way that somehow manages to remain grounded and completely accessible even as ludicrous s**t hits ridiculous fans.

Breaking Bad's final episode was as amazing as Dexter's finale was terrible.

And Dexter's finale was really bad.

Yeah, just 4. It was weird that they just ended it right there, you think they'd keep making a show that popular!

I'm watching Weeds, Nancy rocks! Not as fascinating as Breaking Bad but this one is also pretty stylish.

No follow up? Was your scrotum not significantly emptied following Day of the Doctore? I know mine was. Pretty sure Dr. Who got me off for atleast a month (unlike my previous girlfriend).

Post Re: What are you currently watching?
Weeeeeeeeell ... now that you ask.

I really enjoyed the episode, I really did. I think it closed the thread of the Time War fairly well, AND gives us the possibility of Gallifrey's return! And of course, having Tennant back made me really, really miss him. Matt was great, but Tennant is and will probably always be my favorite.

But, I felt like the episode was too "Moffat-y" -- in other words, every solution is the opposite of Occam's razor. What I mean by that is, it was too self-indulgent in the way it over-complicated the plot. And what bugs me, is, in the last episode, Clara was proven to be the most important companion (oh what a surprise, another special companion) who has been involved in saving each incarnation of the doctor, and she did so by jumping into the Doctor's own grave (the glowy timestream thingy).

So why the f**k bring back Bad Wolf/Rose Tyler? Clara could have been that catalyst for bringing the doctors together. Maybe it's cause I never cared for Rose, but I was annoyed that they would just shoe-horn her in. Oh wait, she was a mental manifestation of the AI of the most powerful Timelord Weapon, who took the shape of a companion he (the Hurt doctor) never would have seen. Oh, That makes sense.

I'm sure all the loose ends will be wrapped up in a nice neat bow during the next special. </sarcasm>
