As far as Sidescroller month goes, I think the TMNT3 track definitely should've ranked higher than a tie for 5th place.

Grant, did you guys record that much differently than you normally record your MM tracks? Listening to it before/after MM tracks, it sounds....brighter? Perhaps clearer, or maybe just louder highs.

Listening through last month's entries, there are a few that are pretty awesome. The GBA F-Zero track is pretty killer. I'm of course partial to Mega Man tracks, but the MM9 tune makes pretty neat use of synths (though I hated the long fade-out). I thought the Zelda track (7th place) was pretty good, but then they started singing a little past a third of the way in, and I thought it was extremely cheesy. Pretty much making it a perfect prog-power metal song.

We recorded it completely differently than MM tracks. I recorded all the guitars (except the final solo), and then I mixed/mastered it. On MM recordings Stemage does all of those things and I have no part in it. And yes, after hearing that mix for a few months, it is a bit bright.

This month had some amazing entries. The two that tied for top really deserved it. I enjoy the s**t out of those two tracks. FAXANADU track was f**king awesome too (had our very own powell and spook!). Gratz to those that entered and got top 10!

I'm glad something won this month that wasn't all wank pants. Those tracks always make me feel like a poopy guitar player.

Chunk beat me to the punch!

Powell, Nario, and I entered this month to those that don't know yet. We nabbed 3rd place which was fun. The track can be ninja'd here: http://dod.vgmix.com/past/2009-10-october/

It's the one by the bronze trophy 8-) Looking forward to entering more often with anyone who wants to. <3s

I'll check it out when I get home. I'm very happy to see that DoD now lets you download all the songs at once. I hated downloading them all individually.

Omni - Rhythm, Bass
Powell - Drums, Lead
Nario - Synth, Vox

It was a lot of fun. I'd be able to help on leads if I knew how to make heads or tails of a lead tone, but as it stands I just flipped the switch on my guitar and gave Powell the same exact tone for lead and rhythm. He rerecorded it, needless to say :).

Then he did that monster solo. God it's so good :D.

Credit for transitions goes to Powell. I kinda picked the songs and played the foundations for everything but Powell really figured out how to make them all fit. He did a f**king awesome job of it, the transitions are my favorite part.

Powellman is awesome! He took everything we gave him and made it all work very well!

Thanks for the kind words, guys! It was a lot of fun! I was told to go all-out on Team Rocket's Hideout, and Omni and Powellman made it even better! Yeah!

Oh, and the vocals? The pitch/tone wasn't edited.
