Man, I was considering a Wizards & Warriors medley........until I heard norg's. I can't come even close so I'm not even gonna bother anymore.

don't sell yourself short. i have a lot of problems with the W&W song i did that i may never go back and fix (shitty guitar playing, bad mixing, and i could have done that voice so much better...) simply because i keep trying to move forward without looking over my shoulder.

why would you want to rob the community of what could be an amazing (and probably much better) mix of an awesome soundtrack? (:

Someday I'm going to do a wizards & warriors medley, but it's not going to be a 15 min+ prog song :P :(

Here's some fixes:
-"-Castlevania Adventure, "The Enmity of Black and White". (DoD - May 05 **link broken)" The link is broken? It seemed to work for me. Hmm.

-Double Dragon 3, "The Cry of Marion". (DoD - Tornado of Solos) should be on the dod.vgmix page.

-Megaman!? Isn't it two words?[/anal]

Hah, good call on Mega Man. I don't mind anal. :shifty-eyed:
I kind of pwned myself on that one. To double check the spelling, I looked over at my carts on my bookshelf. The first and only one I glanced at was MEGAMAN 2, which is the only one out of the six that fails to seperate the words (on the end).
What month is Cry of Marion from? Tornado of what now?

The link is still broken for me. How about everyone else?
edit: I could be wrong, but it appears that there are more things not working than there were before. So if something is working that I said wasn't, i'll fix that. But if something isn't that I didn't mention, i'll leave it as is because it might only be temporary. I'll post errors found in the DoD thread.

Heh...You didn't even bother trying to type up all of Shawn's because there's so damn many.

Haha, thats not it. I had it all typed, then my browser crashed before I got to hit enter. Damned myspace. Then I was like "ugh I don't feel like doing that again right now". It'll be up later.

Dod this month should be kickass. Metal Gear is a series with awesome music. I especially like the original's first level theme. It doesn't soar like Sons of Liberty, but I always thought it sounded great mid-tempo or slower (the ultimate jogging music!). To see what I mean, listen to the old NESkimoes remix on their site; it had the makings of a really cool track, though the production is a tad weak... I hope they redo it with their Strongening project.

Another theme from Metal Gear that I really enjoyed was the love/tragedy theme from Solid that played when snake was first suba diving and in several of the radio transmissions/cutscenes. Such a beautiful theme, but never remixed. Reuben Kee had a brief section of it at the start of his "Legend of the Snake," but otherwise, I've never heard it played elsewhere.

Maybe we'll get a surprise this month. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I haven't ever gotten into any Metal Gear games, so I'm not gonna do a song this month. If I haven't even experienced the nostalgia of the game, I wouldn't be able to do justice to the soundtrack, or at least get into doing the song.

I feel the same way for metal gear, although I recently got the original and will get into it soon i'm sure. The nsfs alone aren't grabbing me.
For others though, there have been games which i've gotten into just for the music, without nostalgia. The game godzilla is new to me and also not worth playing on top of that. But damn, I want to do more of it, or at least record the one song the parasprinter learned.
:P
When I get my hands on the footage from magfest i'll put up what I can.

You're talking about the NES godzilla? with the honeycomb shaped map? That had outstanding music, and I can't wait to hear your band's take on it!

Tornado of Solos was one of the special comps, like the clockwork and joke tune ones.

http://dod.vgmix.com/specials.php

Crimson hasn't posted the link there yet, but there's still a link to it on the first page: http://dod.vgmix.com/specials/tos2005

It wasn't all that successful a competition with the turnout.

Also, I did a 3d worldrunner one for that joke month. And while it is joke-like in nature, the music to that game is awesome.

I haven't neither remixed nor arranged anything but I want to say thanks to you guys that do.

Thanks for the great music! I now have more VG music on my iPod than "secular" music.

Seriously, that rules.
Your sonic green hill zone cover is one of the most satisfying things to listen to, btw. And adventure island.

I've got things to add.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and was having a great time just looking around the boards when I came across this thread. This is great, there are some really awesome covers and remixes on here, so I thought I'd share some that I've taken a shot at.

http://www.nerdcentral.org/remixes.html

The remixes are:

- Mega Man 2 - Live at Skull Castle (Skull Castle 1 theme)
- Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Dark Toccata (Last boss/regular boss)
- Final Fantasy 4 - La Balena (Big Whale)
- Mega Man 5 - The Law of Gravity (Gravity Man)
- Castlevania - Of Blood and Holy Water (various Castlevania themes)

sloppy live samples from magfest are up!
We had only two practices for that show, in which we learned new material and had to relearn old stuff that we had forgoten after 7 months of not doing anything... it definately shows, but I think its decent at that.
Hey, at least its something.

Ha, the keyboard arpeggios during Zelda temple are the wrong chords but they work somehow so it's OK. They give it a more standard minor feel.

Yeah they were reworked for some reason, but I don't remember why they bothered.

Hey man, just asking for an update. I know that norg, danimal, I, and probably some others have a few from recent DoDs that aren't up yet.

Probably in the dumpster.
Or the DoD free months of Sept. 04 (with Zoast) and June 05 (with Good-Evil).
