 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
I realized my bean-eating has dropped off precipitously the last couple of weeks, and it's because I'm just tired of beans. Slow-carbers, anyone have good ways to pimp out black beans or pinto beans so that they don't just taste like salt?
Right now the way I prepare my beans is: Open can. Drain. Rinse. Microwave.
EDIT: cause I'm a swell guy. . If you leave out the Parmesan it seems very Slow Carb friendly and I'm going to give it a shot this weekend.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
I need to get strict again Crock pot beans are way better than canned because you shower them with whatever seasonings you want. The more seasonings the less salty. Good luckkkkk.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
I believe my heavy 2 hour, 3 times a week workouts are being stunted by the Slow Carb. I also find that at the time of working out, my energy levels are pretty low, so I constantly have to eat a cheat meal (usually cottage cheese with a scoop of flavored whey and almond butter) an hour prior to workout to get decent results. I might be totally wrong as well, who the f**k knows. As long as I've been on this, my results have not been as optimal as all you fatties (no offense) trying it.
My friend Power in Rhode Island: Starting weight = 204, current weight = 185 chunk: Starting weight = a million pounds, current weight = between 195 and 200 omni: Starting weight = a million pounds, current weight = 194 (?) (don't remeber off the top of my head, dawg) doom: Starting weight = something, current weight = something - 30 = less than starting something
me: SW: 207 CW: 197 That is f**king nothing, guys. Lowest I've been was 194, prior to working out. I've lost inches, gotten bigger arms, and am working to a better, sculpted, more sessy, still balding TS, but, if I followed a healthy food regimen, with regular carbs, I believe I would get better results quicker.
Plus f**k beans in the morning so sick of that s**t, damn.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Here's what I do every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Monday: Back & Triceps
8 min. cardio warmup. Deadlifts 3x Close Grip Bench Press 3x Pull Ups 3x Skullcrushers 3x Dumbbell Rows 2x Tricep Dips 3x 20 min. cardio
Wednesday: Chest & Bicep
8 min. cardio warmup. Chin Ups 3x Incline Flyes 3x Concentration Curls 3x Flat Bench Press 3x Hammer Curls 2x Dips 2x 20 min. cardio
Friday: Legs & Shoulders
8 min. cardio warmup Squats 3x Full Press 3x Stiff Leg Deadlifts 3x Laterals 3x Upright Rows 3x 20 min. cardio
Since we're getting pretty tired of doing 20 minutes of cardio after our workouts, we're going to be implementing circuit training into our workouts (ex. sets of jumping jacks, jump rope, or interval cardio in between sets of exercises) starting next week.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
For the record, My starting weight = 194. My current weight is 162. My goal is 155 with 12% BF which is totally doable in the next few months. I agree that exercise and weights is a key to that, especially if you're starting out at a fairly normal weight. My 2.5-3 lbs a week loss is down to about a pound a week.
Maybe we need a workout thread. I quit my gym 4 months ago, and I'm doing body weight training with pushups, body weight rows (with a thingy that hooks into the door frame), tricep dips from the coffee table, etc. So far it's a good combo with SCD.
And TS, let's see 'dem abs, brah.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Yeah, I'm all for working out, but to say the slow carb has been holding you back seems odd. You're getting jacked which will prevent you from ever being low in weight.
I have severe tendonitis apparently that's preventing me from working out. Being stressed about that is making me not follow the diet. LAME.
Also i started 304 and am at 248 after dropping to 239 a few weeks ago. Am in size 36s comfortably still, so yay progress.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
@OMNI
Follow the diet, get on the wagon. Track your weight daily. Keep your protein up in the morning. Make it a ritual again, even if that means not going out with people for a while. As long as you are trending down week to week, that's what matters.
Also, for TS, are you tracking your BF%? I know towards your goal weight you will be swapping more muscle for fat and so you might actual gain weight during recomposition. I want to find a place that'll do an accurate BF% calculation for me. My scale says I'm 21%, and according to some online algorithms based on what the Army and Navy and Marines do, I'm everywhere from 17% to 22%. I want to be 12-13% and based on pictures I can see online I'm about 18-20%.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
I started at either 25% or 24%. Currently at 19%. No abs to see, bot. It's just a pouch of fluff.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Same here. Started out at 30, down to 19. on paper that's pretty badass, but I still have a spare tire and will probably lose another 3 inches off my waist before I'm done. I'm not counting on seeing individual abs, but seeing some kind of definition in my torso will be awesome.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
So, I think I'll try this for a month. Right now, I'm about 210. Not too heavy looking but could definitely use trimming around the edges.

DO IT. Get the book The Four Hour Body first. Read it, understand it, live it for a month and lose some weight. I hope you like beans!

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Yesterday I did the first weight lifting I'd done since middle school I think. I can bench 100. Which is, I don't know, okay for someone who never exercises? Maybe?

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Crossed into the 150s today. Tomorrow is cheat day and I'm going to cheat LIKE A BOSS.
EDIT: footnote on that soup recipe. It is, in that urban parlance, "da bomb". Even non slow carbers ought to try it.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
So, I haven't gotten the book yet but I have; based on website, been doing this diet for about a week and a half. With a few given into temptations. So much dietary fiber haha. My body does feel kind of good though from eating better. Definitely going to try and stick with it.

 Re: Slow Carb Cookbook
Do it, son. I have lost 35 lbs in 5 months and after about the first month it's pretty easy to stick with the diet. I have never had an unplanned "cheat" outside of my cheat day. Regularity is sometimes an *ahem* issue, so get to eatin' that broccoli, son!
Lentils, beans, eggs, chicken, brocolli and spinach. If you like at least 4 of those things you'll do fine, since that's about 90% of what you'll eat 6 days a week.
And the more you sneak in cheat food the harder it is to stick with the diet.
EDIT:
